Frequently asked

The fine print, plainly.

Why free right now?

We're early. Pricing is still being designed around what families actually use — number of faces, retention extensions, storage tiers. Until that's settled, the workspace is free to use. We'll email before flipping any switch.

What happens to my originals?

Your photos live in your workspace for 30 days while your family identifies faces together. After 30 days, originals are purged in compliance with biometric-privacy law. Export the metadata bundle (GEDCOM + XMP sidecars + JSON) any time before then — and download your originals from the library view directly.

Can I get my photos out?

The metadata bundle is exportable any time: GEDCOM 5.5.1 for genealogy software, XMP face-region sidecars (the standard format for face tags and names), and JSON for everything else. Photo bytes themselves are downloadable one-by-one from the library view today; a bulk-photo ZIP export is on the roadmap.

How many family members can join?

Unlimited. The whole point of KindredPics is collaborative naming — a 4-person archive identifies fewer people than a 14-person archive. Bring in everyone who might remember a face.

Will there be paid plans?

Yes, eventually. We'll publish them here with at least 30 days' notice before they go live, and the current early-access experience stays usable while you decide.
